There are 5 existing houses in the Thomson area built by Jonathan Bartlett, an architect/builder of classic revival houses. His trademarks are ornate architectural features and exceptional craftsmanship. These homes were built for the most prominent families of local commerce in the early twentieth century.

Mr. Bartlett was born April 28, 1860 in Bethel, Maine. His school days were spent in Lowell, Mass. When a young man, he went to Montana where he began his business career as contractor and architect.

In 1880, he married Miss Hattie Potter in Butte, Montana. It was in 1899 when Mr. Bartlett moved to Georgia. During his years of residence in Thomson, Mr. Bartlett built at least 8 homes within the community.
