White Hills Farm Cooking Workshops @ White Hills Farm

We’ll start with a farm tour at 10:30, then cooking instruction will follow. There will be samples to try. Most classes will be $10 per person. If you want to bring a picnic to have on the property after class, you’re welcome to bring one.

Historic Pews & Pulpits Ramble @ Tour Leaves From Home Depot Parking Lot

Join us for our 2018 scenic bus tours through rural east Georgia. We will tour historic churches tucked away but not forgotten…five church stops on each Ramble. (Sat 4.14.18 and Fri 9.21.18)

Not only will you get to go inside the churches and hear about their humble beginnings, you’ll be inspired by songs and words from some of the chancels and pulpits. Snacks & lunch are included.

At each church there will be a brief program of either the history of the church or a musical sampling. You’ll also have ample opportunity to walk the grounds and photograph the area.

Spring Ramble Churches: White Plains Baptist, Antioch Baptist, Prospect Methodist, Wrightsboro Methodist, New Smyrna Methodist.

Fall Ramble Churches: To be announced

Ride along on a Tally-ho wagon through historic sites and beautiful rolling countryside of McDuffie County, following scarlet-coated hunters and well-trained hounds on a simulated fox hunt. Join us for an unforgettable McDuffie County tradition!

An “equestrian triathlon”, these events involve working with a horse both on the flat and over fences. The three phases are: dressage, endurance (or cross-country), and show jumping. Eventing has now evolved into an exciting sport attracting interest from all levels of sports enthusiasts, from weekend hobby riders to professional international stars.

Freedom Blast @ McDuffie County Government Center

The Thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce along with the City of Thomson will be hosting the fireworks show “Freedom Blast” on Tuesday, July 3, 2018. This event will be on the front lawn of the Thomson-McDuffie County Government Complex. There will be handicap parking provided on site, but regular parking will be redirected to other areas downtown. The main parking lot in front of the Government center will be blocked off for vendors.

The event begins at 7:00 p.m. with games and activities for the whole family. The Thomson Family Y will coordinate different activities such as sack races, a dunking booth, and so much more. Also, we will have a corn hole tournament where the winner will receive a brand new television donated by the Thomson Walmart Supercenter. If you are interested in participating in the corn hole tournament, please contact the chamber to sign up. The Thomson Fire Department will also have their ladder truck spraying water for the kids to play in.

Along with the fun activities are delicious eats. We’ll have several different vendors selling barbecue, ice cream, hamburgers and hot dogs, etc. So don’t forget to bring your appetite!
